Everyone searches for success. While our ideas of success differ, a typical entrepreneur will define success in terms of accomplishing worthy goals-often accompanied by an improvement in their financial and social position. It is recognized in the business community that success is a direct result of passionate commitment, organized planning, constructive action and perseverance. However, by definition, the word BOOM suggests the creation of something BIG, immediate and successful! In addition, BOOM may also mean “increase” in economic terms, another typical measure of success. So what are your plans? If you wish to mimic the actions that successful people like the Celebrity Experts® in this book take to make progress towards their goals, and also take advantage of their experiences, here is a good opportunity to understand their mindset – which often...

You Become Who You Associate Your Self With

I first heard about the Law of Association from the late great Jim Rohn which says that, “You become the average of the 5 people you spend your time with”. This means that you will begin to think, talk, act and earn the same as those people that you spend most of your time with which usually includes your family, your friends and your colleagues. This law, like most natural laws such as Gravity, works whether we like it or not. It’s not something we can avoid or fight. The prevailing thoughts of your group will always dominate and, as we know, thoughts precede actions which ultimately determines your results. It is akin to a phenomenon called Groupthink.  Groupthink, as defined by Wikipedia, is a psychological phenomenon that occurs within a group of people, in which the desire for harmony or conformity in the group results in an irrational or dysfunctional decision-making outcome. When you come along with a great new idea to pursue your dream, to start a new venture, to take up a new opportunity, to upgrade your life in some way and it is not consistent with your group’s current way of thinking, you are bound to face resistance and you are ultimately doomed to fail unless you protect your dream by extricating yourself from this negative scenario. From the group’s perspective there are at least two elements at play: The first is that even though they might care for you and want the best for you, they certainly won’t want you to show them up by succeeding. It might reveal how they are not playing at their fullest potential so they...

How Successful People Think

There is massive difference in how successful and unsuccessful people think,  yet success is not some big mystery, it is not some secret that remains hidden in some distant, dark ancient vault. Nor is success down to some specific demographic, education, financial standing, upbringing and politics. Success has been figured out and it is a mindset game, it how we use what we have between our ears which determines how we show up each day and the actions that we take bases on these thoughts. Success comes down to how we manage our mind and how we manage our time. Now I appreciate that when you in the thick of things and battling with life, you may feel there is more to succeeding than ‘thinking right’ and being productive. The  truth is, though, that the only thing standing between you and your goals, is your thinking as everything stems from this. Get this – your absolute best thinking got you to where you are…let that sink in for a moment…your very best thinking got you to where you are today. Now if the best you could come up with has left you short of your mark and your idea of success, then you have to take a look at what it is about your thinking that is limiting you and address this so it doesn’t continue to limit you. Limited Thinking We all have the limiting thoughts, the key is what we do with them once we think them.  Do we let these thought stop us in our tracks or do we press forward anyway? One of the main differences between how successful...

10 Proven Ways To Get More Done Today

We live in a world of dramatic distractions and distractions destroy productivity. Anywhere you look, there is something or someone vying for your attention and so the number one skill that we most need nowadays, and the one which most have lost, is the ability to focus and to be productive.   A survey concluded a few years ago on the productivity of Fortune 500 CEOs showed, alarmingly, that they were only truly productive 90 minutes per day. Now, these are the top guys and gals in the top jobs with all the help and the systems that money can buy and all they could manage as far as productivity, was a mere 90 minutes.  So, how productive do you think you are each day? Do you fare any better than these CEO’s and how much time do you spend on your top goals, those projects that will significantly improve your life and draw you nearer to your dreams? The irony is that we now have more ways to communicate but probably connect with friends and contacts less, I mean truly connect. Technology has progressed so far that we now carry computers in our pockets and yet, instead of becoming more productive, we have become less so. On average we are now disturbed every 3 minutes (people, calls, notifications, Facebook, emails, did I mention Facebook) and every time we are disturbed it takes another 11 minutes to get settled and back on task, that is if we ever get back to the same task which research tells us we typically don’t. Now, you may feel that you are productive because...

10 Ways How To Get More Energy

One of the most important elements to living our best life, and one that is not often mentioned, is Energy. Energy is the fundamental currency of High Performers and your performance, health and happiness are all determined by how skilfully you manage your energy. In order to be the best we can be, to attain the lofty goals we set ourselves and to live a fully charged and rich life, we need to have high levels of energy. However, most people’s energy levels are all over the place. They struggle to get up each day, they take a while to get going when they do, their moods throughout the  day fluctuate greatly (because their energy fluctuates), they need copious amounts of stimulants e.g. coffee to make it through the day and by the end of it, they are usually exhausted and collapse in front of the TV with a takeaway meal. The average person, looking the statistics, is overweight, eats poorly and consumes vast amounts of sugar as well as other processed crap, does little or no exercise and spends their time engage in low energy activities. Some scary facts: In the States and on average, people watch TV for 4 hours per day; 80% of people do not meet the total recommend amounts of exercise and physical inactivity has been linked to more than 5 million deaths world-wide annually, more that that caused by smoking; Sugar intake per person, on average, has increased from 9 grams a day in 1822, to 153 grams per day, currently. That is a 1700% increase! People are sitting for up to 15 hours a...

You’re A Genius In Hiding, Really..

Have you ever looked upon others who have excelled at a certain discipline, like sports or music, someone so good that society labels them a master or a genius and perhaps secretly envy their talent? Well the good news is that it seems that natural talent is overrated and you too can become talented in a field of your choosing.  Far from it being down to genetics only and being born with it, recent studies, of some admittedly very talented people, suggest that, in reality, it is more down to hard work, daily practice and discipline. How much hard work? Well about 10 years or 10 000 hours worth, give or take! Don’t believe me? Consider Mozart. His first years of composing didn’t amount to much and nowhere near the genius levels he is so well known for today. It was only after having practiced composing for approximately 10 years that his music started to stand out. Or, Andre Agassi, who hated tennis, but because his father forced him to hit something like 5000 tennis balls every day, from when he was very young, he developed into a champion in time. Even David Beckham didn’t have much talent when he first started playing football, according to his father that is. He did, though, spend almost all day, everyday on the field practicing as a youngster. There are many more, similar examples that can be found of other successful people and they share this common attribute which is consistent, daily practice over a long period of time. Now of course genetics do play a big role in certain disciplines. Consider...
Changing Your Life One Question At A Time

Changing Your Life One Question At A Time

Asking Power Questions can change your life. Power questions empower us by soliciting the type of answers that are most productive and most likely to move us forward in our lives. By asking quality questions we create a quality life. Normal Negative Questions When people ask themselves questions, most times they are based in the negative. Questions like, “Why does this always happen to me” or “Why can’t I do this”.  The problem with these type of questions it that your brain looks to answer these questions with whatever reason it can find in that moment and that might not be helpful. Answers that might come back for example could be, ” Because you not good enough” or ” Because you don’t know what you are doing”  Not particularly empowering right?   Positive Power Questions But when we switch the question around and ask a power question instead you will get a better quality answer. “How can I do this?” or “How can I benefit from this experience” will give you much better answers. The key is to develop a habit or a ritual of asking yourself power questions.  If you want more happiness or joy in your life then create and ask yourself power questions e.g  What makes me happy? How can I get more happiness in my life?  What makes me excited?   Etc. Check out what Tony has to say on this; [youtube id=”Yr7Wkz7W7Vs”] So what are some positive questions you can ask yourself ? Better still take some of the old negative questions you may been have been asking yourself and turn them into positive questions instead.  You will be glad you...

Your Morning Routine: Creating An Hour Of Power To Kick-Start Your Day

Having a morning routine or ritual (or hour of power as Tony Robbins calls it) is a habit that many of the most successful people use to kick start their day in the best way possible. Instead of waking up as late as possible, rushing to get ready and get off to work , having a morning routine allows you to begin the day on your own terms and in a positive and powerful way, giving you the opportunity to prepare your mind and body for the day ahead for increased productivity and results. The idea of the morning routine, or hour of power, is to have a handful of activities that you do to prepare yourself for the day. These can be anything that you feel is positive and inspirational for you. Here are a couple of  the most common ideas: Exercise:   Working out in the morning is popular to get the blood and oxygen flowing. You could be hitting the pavement or doing something else like yoga. Either way 20-30 minutes of exercise in the morning will wake you up and make you feel great. Meditation:  Meditation is another popular activity for your morning routine and particularly good after you have exercised as you will be more alert.  Becoming mindful and present will allow you to start the day from a more grounded perspective Inspiration: Another activity for your hour of power could be to read an inspirational book or listen to an inspirational audio. Nothing like taking in some wisdom first thing in the morning to set you on the success path. You could even double up activities, like listening to something inspirational while exercising....

Eat The Frog: It’s What’s For Breakfast

Mark Twain was the originator of the eat the frog concept. He said, “Eat a live frog first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.” Motivational speaker and author, Brian Tracy has turned the saying into a metaphor for productivity. What Is The Eat The Frog Metaphor Brian calls your most important task of the day, your frog. By following Twain’s advice to eat the frog first in order to have a better day, Brian says that doing your most important task first will make the rest of your day better as well. It’s a sure-fire way to beat procrastination. When you do your most important task first, the rest of your day is smooth sailing by comparison. Applications of Eat The Frog To Your Personal Life With a whopping 65% of respondents in a recent survey saying they were dissatisfied with their jobs, it’s a wonder more people don’t eat the frog for breakfast. Getting up just one hour earlier allows you to work on an alternative to your nine to five. Can you imagine what you can accomplish toward your passion in 365 hours of focused action? You could join the throngs of people walking away from traditional jobs and creating meaningful lives they love. Applications of Eat The Frog To Your Professional Life People are typically more alert and have more energy in the morning. Applying the eat the frog concept at work has the same benefits that it does for your personal projects. You work on your most important work project first, the one you’re most likely to put off, while...
